What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach that has been shown to improve socially significant behaviors in all areas of development for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other behavioral challenges including communication, social emotional adjustment, adaptive behaviors, fine motor skills, and cognition. ABA therapy is the only clinically proven therapy for children with autism and endorsed by Autism Speaks, American Academy of Pediatrics, Autism Society of America and many others.
Who can benefit from ABA services?
Services are provided to families and their children diagnosed with Autism anywhere from 18 months to 21 years of age. The entire family benefits from our services.

We accept Horizon BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Aetna, Horizon NJ Health, United Healthcare, Benefit Administrative Systems, and NJ Medicaid. We also take additional out-of-networks benefits that may not be listed. Call us today to discuss in more detail our coverage options.
How will ABA Therapy help my child?
While receiving ABA therapy, your child will work with highly trained specialists that can assist in teaching your child how to master daily living skills (e.g, dressing, hygiene, bathing, toileting, feeding), develop expressive and receptive language skills, play and leisure skills, and social skills. ABA therapy can also be utilized to assist in reducing maladaptive behaviors, such as self-injury, physical aggression, elopement, property destruction, etc. and work towards teaching replacement skills to utilize instead. The ultimate goal for ABA therapy is to help create a functional and meaningful life for your child.
What behaviors are targeted for ABA treatment?
A number of behaviors can be targeted through ABA treatment in the Social, Life and Learning Skills areas. These include play and leisure, functional communication, social communication, adaptive behavior/self-help skills, attending skills, imitation skills, safety at home and in the community, independence regarding activities of daily living, community inclusion, and maladaptive behaviors such as tantrums, protesting, self-injurious behaviors, elopement, disruptive behaviors, etc.

My child is receiving other services. What do I do?
Rainbow ABA values interdisciplinary collaboration and will work with your current speech language pathologist, occupational therapist, etc. as part of your learner’s professional care team. Just let us know and we’ll coordinate communication with them.
What type of training do the therapists have?
Each Rainbow team member undergoes rigorous training before working with learners, covering essential topics such as privacy protection under HIPAA, respect for cultural and family values, compliance with NJ child safety reporting guidelines, and an introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Additionally, all ABA therapists must complete a 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician training course within three months of hiring.
What can I do as a parent? Does ABA offer support for parents?
Rainbow ABA offers Parent Training to provide tools and strategies that empower parents and afford their children the opportunity to thrive in their own environment. Parent Training is an important part of a learner’s overall success because it helps transfer new skills into the learner’s everyday life. Your child’s BCBA will set up Parent Training sessions that are convenient and work with your schedule. Most funding sources (i.e., major insurance providers) make Parent Training a mandatory component.
