The West Georgia Autism Foundation is a grassroots organization founded in Carrollton, Georgia, with a clear vision: to help individuals with autism and their families by building and supporting vital resources within the local community. Since its inception in June of 2017, the foundation has worked tirelessly to fulfill its mission: “to enrich the lives of families throughout West Georgia touched by autism by providing support, promoting awareness, and educating the community.”
This commitment to improving lives and fostering inclusivity has led to the development of several innovative programs and partnerships aimed at providing families with the resources and tools they need to navigate the challenges of autism. Through advocacy, awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives, the foundation continues to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with autism and their families.
One of the most anticipated events hosted by the West Georgia Autism Foundation is the Snow Ball Gala, which brings together community members for an evening of fun and philanthropy. The sixth annual Snow Ball Gala will be held on January 25, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. at the West Georgia Technical College’s Waco campus. This cocktail-attire event will feature live musical entertainment by the Carrollton Jazz Ensemble and John Paul Barry, ensuring an evening full of memorable moments. In addition to the entertainment, guests will have the opportunity to participate in both silent and live auctions, which are crucial to raising funds for the foundation’s programs and initiatives.
The auction funds raised during the Snow Ball Gala play a vital role in supporting the foundation’s local programs. These funds are used to enhance and expand essential resources for individuals with autism in the West Georgia area. Recently, the West Georgia Autism Foundation has made significant strides, including the establishment of an endowment with the University of West Georgia to support their ABA therapy program. Additionally, the foundation has partnered with West Georgia Technical College to offer a paid internship opportunity for students with autism, allowing them to work in a university setting. These partnerships are just a few examples of how the foundation is actively making a difference in the lives of those affected by autism.
The West Georgia Autism Foundation is incredibly proud of the unique resources and services it offers to the local community. However, the foundation continues to seek donations for its auction to further expand its initiatives and continue providing meaningful opportunities for individuals with autism and their families. In the past, the foundation has received generous donations from the community, such as handcrafted metal signs and local artwork, all of which have contributed to the success of the event. If you have an item you would like to donate, please contact the West Georgia Autism Foundation for more details. The foundation offers many other ways for individuals to get involved, whether through volunteering, attending workshops, or participating in community events. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to stay updated on upcoming events such as workshops in the spring, the inclusive trick-or-treat event, and various volunteer opportunities that allow you to make a meaningful difference in the West Georgia community.
